Our client, a financial and technology services firm, with offices in SF/Bay and Texas, is hiring for a Linux Subject Matter Expert. As a Linux SME, you will be responsible for providing expert-level knowledge and support for Linux-based systems, with a focus on Ansible, Terraform, Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), VMware, and Packer. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux infrastructure while ensuring
high availability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities:
1. Linux Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
– Design and implement Linux-based infrastructure solutions, ensuring scalability,
reliability, and optimal performance.
– Develop and maintain architecture blueprints, documentation, and standard operating procedures for Linux systems.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and ensure
seamless integration with other technologies.

2. Linux System Administration and Support:
– Provide expert-level support for Linux systems, including troubleshooting complex
issues, performance optimization, and system tuning.
– Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend appropriate
solutions. Implement security best practices, including user management, access control, and system hardening.
– Ensure timely patching and updates of Linux systems, following established change management processes.

3. Automation and Configuration Management:
– Utilize Ansible, Terraform, and Packer to automate deployment, configuration, and
management of Linux infrastructure.
– Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, Terraform templates, and Packer
configurations for provisioning and managing Linux resources.
– Continuously improve automation workflows to streamline processes and increase
efficiency.
4. Linux Server Virtualization:
– Manage VMware-based virtualized environments, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter Server.
– Provision and maintain virtual machines, templates, and snapshots.
– Monitor virtual infrastructure performance and troubleshoot issues related to
virtualization.

5. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide guidance and expertise on Linux-related matters.
– Share knowledge and mentor junior team members, promoting professional growth and development.
– Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Linux technologies,
attending conferences and training sessions as needed.

Qualifications:
-Extensive experience as a Linux Administrator or Engineer, with a focus on Ansible, Terraform, Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, and Packer.
– Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including system administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
– Proficiency in automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Packer.
– Solid understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter Server.
– Experience in designing and implementing Linux-based infrastructure solutions, considering scalability, reliability, and performance.
– Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and scripting tasks.
– Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
– Relevant certifications such as RHCE, VCP, LPIC, or HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate are desired.

Comp: $125-160K base + benefits
