Our client operates a platform that helps independent creators fund and launch new work, connecting people with ideas directly to the audiences who want to see them made. Filmmakers, game developers, musicians, designers, and technologists use it to raise capital, test demand, and build a community before a project ships. The company has a long track record in the creative economy and a mission built around creative independence.

About the Role

You will own the company’s film category: which filmmakers it attracts, which it keeps, and how it is seen across the independent film community. The mandate is to protect and grow category share in a funding landscape where creators have real alternatives, hitting targets for new creator acquisition and retention of priority filmmakers. You will report to the department head for creator outreach. This is a 20-week leave coverage, so the role calls for someone who can step in with an existing network and immediate credibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the film category strategy, setting priorities against revenue, acquisition, and retention targets.
  • Build and manage relationships with top-tier filmmakers, keeping priority creators engaged from first conversation through launch alongside the creator success team.
  • Identify and pitch prospective creators, and re-engage those weighing alternative funding paths.
  • Develop partnerships with film institutions and industry organizations that generate a steady referral pipeline.
  • Represent the company at industry events, on panels, and with press, in partnership with communications and marketing.
  • Lead category education, developing resources and best practices that help filmmakers run stronger campaigns.
  • Track industry trends and competing platforms, translating market intelligence into outreach strategy and positioning.
  • Drive adoption of new product features among priority creators, including recruiting beta participants.
  • Champion creator needs internally, bringing clear feedback on product, policy, and experience to the teams that own them.
  • Curate and spotlight standout projects and success stories with marketing to attract the next wave of filmmakers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in film, with an active network across independent filmmakers, producers, and industry organizations.
  • Track record owning a category, portfolio, or book of relationships against measurable acquisition and retention targets.
  • Confident public presence: at ease presenting to small and large groups, speaking with press, and representing a brand at industry events.
  • Sharp judgment on film projects, with the ability to independently assess quality, originality, and clarity of pitch.
  • Experience turning strategic plans into measurable results by working closely with product, marketing, and operations partners.
  • Based in Los Angeles and available to start in mid-December 2026.
  • Experience as a working filmmaker, founder, or creator who has funded a project directly through an audience is a plus.
  • Connections in film segments where the company has room to grow its audience are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Ideally starting in mid-December 2026, running through mid-May 2027
  • Remote, based in Los Angeles, staying connected to the film / entertainment industry
