Our client is a fast-growing and successful Direct to Garment Print (DTG) producer in the eCommerce fulfillment industry. They are seeking an experienced HR Director. The right candidate for the role will be comfortable working in a startup environment and building HR strategies, processes, policies, and systems.
 

Responsibilities
Reporting to both Founders, as the HR director in a lean global organization, your role would include developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Your main focus is attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing workforce while also ensuring full compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, ensuring the hiring of qualified candidates who fit the company culture and requirements.
  • Manage and administer employee compensation and benefits programs, including health insurance, leave policies, and equity plans if applicable.
  • Develop and implement performance management systems, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and employee development plans.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including employee relations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and promote career growth.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, including equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.
  • Manage employee relations, including addressing grievances, conducting investigations, and resolving disputes.
  • Oversee the compensation and benefits structure, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with industry standards.
  • Oversee the HRIS strategy and infrastructure handling the selection, customization, and integration of systems to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Lead and manage an HR Manager, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience developing a total rewards strategy – including running compensation and benefits analyses and administering an equity program.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and develop solutions.
  • Prior experience in a fast-growth, startup environment, building and managing systems from scratch.
  • Experience managing both an exempt and non-exempt workforce.
  • Strong ethical and professional standards, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR-related software applications.
  • Comfort with being the most senior HR leader in an organization.
  • Ability to adapt to change and embrace innovation in HR practices.
  • Comfort with 10% domestic travel.
  • Experience managing a global workforce is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies and programs.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively across teams and some management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $130,000 – $150,000 base
  • Medical and Dental benefits (after 90 days of employment)
  • 7 days of PTO and 3 sick days per year
  • 6 paid holidays per year

Location
San Jose, CA (M-F, Hybrid – 2 or 3 days in office)
