Our client, a well-established accounting and tax company in the auto repair industry is seeking a Senior Tax Preparer. This is a key leadership-track position designed to evolve into their future Tax Manager. The right person will bring deep tax expertise, leadership skills, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to help us continue delivering exceptional service during tax season and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare complex individual and business tax returns (including partnerships, S-corps, and C-corps)
- Clean up and file multiple years of back taxes for clients when needed
- Review returns prepared by junior staff and provide guidance, feedback, and support
- Supervise and support the tax team, helping manage workload and workflow, especially during busy season
- Conduct research and apply tax law to real-world scenarios
- Communicate directly with clients to gather documents, explain filings, and answer questions
- Assist in refining department processes and identifying areas for operational improvement
- Work closely with the current Tax Manager to learn internal systems and prepare for a leadership transition
Qualifications
- 10+ years of tax preparation experience
- Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA required
- Proven experience supervising or mentoring tax teams
- Strong knowledge of both current-year and multi-year filings and resolutions
- Proficient in tax software
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and a focused industry niche
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Benefits
- $100k-$120k, depending one experience
