Our client, a well funded Bay Area startup with an incredible reputation in the custom EV space is hiring for a HR Director to join their talented and growing team. The company has gone through a period of outstanding growth (doubling and tripling their headcount over the past few years) as well as multiple rounds of funding. The HR Director will report into the CEO and work closely with the executive team on building out processes and protocols for the company to help them reach the next stage of their growth.
This person should be comfortable with high level strategy and planning, but also comfortable working in a startup environment where there may be a requirement to be hands-on. An ability to build relationships with team members at all levels of the business is important. You will be responsible for building out the HR infrastructure and nurturing and building a healthy, values-based work culture as you define the long-term people strategy, as well as taking the lead on org design, talent management, compensation, culture and engagement, compliance, policy creation/ implementation and safety. The HR Director should be a calm, reassuring presence across the business and able to communicate ideas in a concise way.
This is an onsite role based in Vallejo, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted advisor to our client's leadership, strengthening cross-functional collaboration and team effectiveness, and ensuring the our client's values are maintained during day to day team interactions.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of our clients business and growth strategy – creating a plan to scale the business and drive employee engagement, retention and performance
- Implement talent management processes and supporting HR technology, covering talent acquisition, goal-setting, performance feedback and calibration, growth and development and succession planning
- Development compensation plans across the business
- Provide balanced leadership as a member of management as well as an employee advocate – help management connect the dots on resolving systemic issues and move forward with fair and consistent people practices
- Coaching and mentoring people leaders across the business.
- Lead processes and activities to ensure that team members are actively engaged, trust their leadership, feel listened to, recognized, and have challenging work
- Provide support and guidance relating to all areas of HR Admin: payroll and timekeeping, legal and policy compliance/reporting, worker’s comp, benefits, document management etc.
Requirements:
• 8+ years experience in a HR leadership role.
• Experience implementing HR processes and policies in a startup environment.
• Experience working in a manufacturing business with hourly employees.
• Ability to earn the trust of leaders and employees from diverse backgrounds
• Passion for rolling up your sleeves to do whatever needs to be done
• Demonstrated ability to shine light onto leadership blind spots and influence improved outcomes at all levels
• Knowledge and experience with Federal and California employment law – CA/Fed leaves of absence, Workers’ Comp, ADA, EEO, FLSA, etc.
Salary: $150-180k depending on experience.
